North Puget Sound Faceting Guild
Are you still looking for the Imperial Alpha Taurus machine?
Yes I have been looking for one for years as I don’t know of any here in Australia,
I would love to see the pictures and I am very interested in this unit as I have been trying to get hold of one for many years, my email address is email@example.com
I'm coordinating with the seller - she is in a different town than I am - and I've given her your email address so she can send the pictures directly to you (they didn't load on my computer). Long story short - be a bit patient, I'm hoping to get you two talking so you can make an informed decision.
Thanks Michael, I really appreciate your effort, Hopefully she will contact me and hopefully a deal can be done, If I am able to do a deal with the lady I will owe you
Dear Michael, Just giving you an update as far as the Alpha Taurus machine is going, I received the photo's from the lady selling it, I have noticed that the machine is mounted into a table and I have asked her if it might be advantageous if she just sold me the mast, head and slider that the mast slides on as she would then have a complete table and cabbing machine she could sell, I also said I would be willing to purchase the whole machine if she could get someone to take it off the table, Its basically everything I am looking for, It is missing the cheater knob but I will just have to get one made, I am assuming it is the cheater knob as her machine is a little different to all the photo's I have of the Alpha Taurus, I think hers could possibly be a later model than the photo's I have of them, will keep you posted if we can make a deal as she has been helpful.
I would like to be second in line for this machine. I have an interest in faceting and cabbing but haven't started. This sounds like a fair price and a great start to faceting. I am in Oak Harbor, WA.
Very good, I'll let the seller know. Since you are in Oak Harbor, hopefully the guild can meet again in September in Mt. Vernon. If that does happen, we will make it a workshop where members bring in their machines and work on gemstones. It is a great way to see different machines and learn the good and bad of them.
I apparently hit "send" before I had a chance to edit my response. We will hopefully meet again in Mt. Vernon in September, and if we can, then since you are in Oak Harbor it may be convenient for you to join us there. The original sentence implies we can meet again because you live in Oak Harbor, and that bothered me a bit.
LOL, I totally understood what you meant. Thank you for the clarification though. I am very excited about finding this group and can't wait to get started with you all. Thank you ahead of time.
Yes it looks like the lady isn't selling it just yet as she has had a berievement in the family, I was truly hoping to buy it from her as I have been searching for this machine for ten years, Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be, but still have my fingers crossed she changes here mind when the time is right, I was also going to offer her a nice Australian sapphire of her choice in appreciation
I found this:
THE ALPHA TARUS from Imperial Gem Instruments
Condition: Used, some faceting, mainly for cabbing. Mast was covered all the time. The plastic light head melted and broke.
The machine comes with: 23 dops total, cone, flat and V, in 4, 5, 6, 8, and 11 mm plus more
96 Index, he originally ordered a 64 index but it was back ordered, never received
Please refer to pictures
The Alpha Tarus will have to be sold with shipping paid by buyer. I'd need an address.
Trying to get the pictures loaded, hopefully soon today. Also the price is in US dollars, and the seller is in Washington state (North West US).
Still haven't seen any pictures and haven't any other details on this machine, I am very interested even though he's not actually giving it away price wise, it is the only true lead I have to date
